Gurkha redundancies 'are military vandalism'

Peter Carroll, founder of The Gurkha Justice Campaign, lambasts the Government's decision to cut around 400 Gurkha posts.

The Armed Forces will lose 4,200 personnel in the biggest round of job losses in a decade.

One in eight Gurkhas will lose their job under the plans. More than 400 Gurkhas, equivalent to almost an entire battalion, will made redundant.

Peter Carroll, founder of The Gurkha Justice Campaign, described the redundancies as "devastating".

"It is going to be a blow for the Gurkhas themselves and the communities that they live in.

"I think that this is wrong for the individual Gurkhas, wrong for the Gurkha brigade, wrong for the Army and wrong for the country."
