One of the largest Nepali community organisations, Tamudhee (Gurung-House in Nepali)UK once again celebrated its annual summer get-together. Ghachowk, one of the Gurung-villages bordering the beautiful of Pokhara is also a popular tourist trekking destination en route to the Himalayas. Many Gurung sons have joined the British Army from here and the trend continues to this day. In line with the summer tradition, the UK-based Ghachowk family too held their annual bhela last week at Farnborough. On 1st August 2008, Maidstone Kent based Nepalese celebrated their annual barbecue with friends and families. Starting at 10:30 am with a trickle, the pace soon picked up with a gathering of over 200 odd people. The highlight of the event were the felicitation of one of Maidstone-based ex-Gurkha's son who recently won a boxing tournament and an inspiring speech by former PN Campus dean Ganesh Gurung aimed at the younger generation.
