Touch Productions is trying to reach out to the wider Gurkha community with view of filming a powerful positive documentary regarding Gurkhas' achievements in UK- particularly outside the area of security, cleaning and catering. Once completed, it will be screened to the wider UK public through national TV, and abroad.
This is a wonderful and unique opportunity for the Gurkha community to promote its achievements and image in the mainstream population.
To make the selection of potential documentary candidates as inclusive as possible, all Gurkha community members who have accessed this information are requested to cascade it further to their own area-based community members and contacts so that all the Gurkhas who have achieved much (obviously through much hard work and sheer determination) will get the chance to be part of the documentary.
All interested candidates are requested to respond to the documentary makers' request for a brief account of themselves throuigh filling in the questionnaire and forwarding them ASAP to
josh@touchproductions.co.uk . This can also be done via their local community leaders.
If the documentary is commissioned and successfully completed, the documentary makers will make donations on behalf of all those who assisted and participated, directly to the Gurkha Welfare Trust, The Royal British Legion and the Hatemalo Project in Nepal.
BELOW IS THE MAIN INFORMATION AND RELEVANT QUESTIONNAIRE FROM THE DOCUMENTARY-MAKERS

Gurkha Communities Proposal & Questionnaire
Namaste,
We at Touch Productions would like to extend an invitation to all active and retired Gurkhas and their families, to offer their input and potential participation in our upcoming documentary about Gurkhas living in the UK.
Touch are currently researching the subject of Gurkhas in Britain today for a possible documentary. We would like to ask for your help. In 2008 the community made national headlines winning their campaign over the right for retired Gurkhas to stay in Britain, but the story does not end there. What has happened since then? Has Britain met its obligations to the Gurkha soldiers and their families, or does it let down the people whose bravery and dedication has kept the nation safe? Are the Army and Government offering enough support for settlement and a happy and productive life in Britain?
We are interested in finding the shining stars of the Gurkha communities who are leading the way in business and innovation, the younger generations integrating into our schools and universities, the older veterans and the work being done to assist them and their families from becoming isolated.
We have prepared a brief questionnaire that will be distributed through community leaders around Britain. We hope that through this, Gurkhas and their families can tell us about their lives and have a voice to contribute and ensure we concentrate on the most inspiring individuals and the most pertinent issues.
We would be delighted to work with you to create a documentary that is enlightening, entertaining and inspiring. Please email the completed questionnaire to josh@touchproductions.co.uk or post to:
