Cologne cemetery
I would like to know why two Gurkhas are buried with the german graves in Colognes south cemetery .I was recently visiting the British graves there and walked to the german ones to discover this ,I was shocked and most upset why are they not buried with the british in their area

Interesting indeed. Do you know if the two were British Gurkhas or Indian Gurkhas? Just wondering.

the graves have the following inscriptions,tho I have left out the names.1832 ,8th gurkha rifleman 5th dec 1915. 4557 rifleman 8th gurkha rifleman 4th october 1915.I am surprised that you are the only one that has replied to this as I and a friend found this upsetting .I do have photographs there were also two indian army graves nearby .

thanks for the reply. I believe u would be able to get more info on this from the Commonwealth war grave commission. I am still thinking that these soldiers were Indian Gurkhas. I understand the frustration when u cant find the answer to smth that u are interested and passionate about. I hope u will be able to get answers fro the CWGC. good luck on your search. May be u could share with us your findings. thanks again for sharing.
