Please please help me
Dear mama haru, my daddy who is now 60 wish to settle in UK, despite our protest, he wish to settle in UK. I including my brother and sister are over 19 now, so if he wishes to settle only, he has to do it alone. I fear this very much. As I have read many articles and heard from news, that GAESO promise of equal pension and housing, extra money etc benefits seem to be just exaggerated. I heard many stranded after arriving there with no money, no jobs, no insurance or benefit as many ex gurkhas are promised by GAESO. Please mama haru, have a heart on me and advise me on this matter. I don't want my father to suffer there. I need to be sure of this. My mom died long time ago, we only have our father on our side now. Please I beg you.
Sincerely

Re: Please please help me
Dear Punam,
fortunately there are some organisations that maybe able to help your father settle here. two such groups are Farnborough Madat Samuha and SSAFA.
However, with no wife and children, he may struggle at times, so he should think clearly before making such move. If he was able to bring you and your brother, it would be another matter, but there are already number of cases of over 19 children who have applied and are still awaiting Home Office decision after 2 years!
Just my honest and humble opinion.
Best wishes,
Tulsi

Re: Please please help me
I am hoping that your Dad has done some research on this before coming to this decision. There was an article in this website long time back regarding benefits to veterans upon arrival. But obviously this is not a guarantee. I see that you are frustrated over this but then again, you are doing good by trying to find the right information for your dad. HE'll definitely need your support. If I am not wrong I think you can apply for the paperworks for yourself your dad and your sibling from Nepal. In the past, they had to come to UK and the situation was a mess, at least to what I heard. Please continue to support your dad whether it is through advising or providing information. Careful thoughts and consideration are needed before he actually decide to settle in the UK. Good Luck.

Re: Please please help me
My daddy did research before applying, he is one of the few ex Gurkhas personnel to apply through GAESO. I am studying MBBS and I don't want to apply for UK visa, if possible not now, even my brother and sister both are aged above 19 now, so it just luck if they will get opportunity. I just found out that my daddy is 100% sure about his decision. Being oldest in my sibling I asked him to stay in Nepal, we are not eager to settle in UK. But no wonder what reason he wish to settle there and want us to apply as well, well mostly to my younger brother and sister.
I went to GAESO as well to understand better ways, and they did told me elderly people got certain benefits and supports so it's not that complicated or frightening as it seem. I respect my daddy decision and support his ideas, but just for just once I wish him to live without suffering or all that hardship people might be experiencing in UK. I hope I am wrong. Because I don't even value UK citizenship that much, that I want my father to suffer even just for a minute.
Thank you all of you for replaying, my daddy wishes to settle so I will provide him every detail and contacts, you all posted here. It's a great help you did for me. Thank you.
Sincerely
Punam
