Nepali songs?
Hi, I had the honour of working with the GDC at RMA Sandhurst for 10 yrs ( 1991-2001) and even had a basic Nepali language course at Church Crookham. I am looking for the word and music if possible to ( excuse my spelling ) 'Jam, Jam Parrale" I loved this song and would like to hear it again with the words to follow.

Re: Nepali songs?
i think you are referring to the song titled" jham jham pareli, aankhai ma gajalu", though i am not sure who sang that song originally. you should defenitely try a you tube search under that title.. see what the results bring in..btw, a good song choice.

Maybe I spelled this wrong but there used to be a song to help the people because the water gave them bad stomachs
I think it was called nun chini pani

Re: Nepali songs?
Hi,
I know this song up to the following point:
"
jham jham pareli aakhaima gajalu samjhana kehi chhaina,
kahako timi kahako hami deharadunma bhet bhako..
"
I heard this song in an old Gurkha documentary, and I found the the following link, which could be relevant:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001IJTRLK/ref=sr_f2_artist_13?ie=UTF8&parent=B001IK2GXU&qid=1241701466&sr=102-13
With regards,
Damar

Re: Nepali songs?
Here is a link where you can listen to the song for free (legally):
http://www.last.fm/music/Binodkumar%2BRai%2B%2526%2BNepali%2BGroup/_/Jham+Jham+Pareli
According to my Grandfather, the refrain translates as 'When you see those mascared eyes a-flashing, then you know you're getting near to Dehra Dun', but he may well have been pulling my leg.

Re: Nepali songs?
Yes, sir, your grandfather did pull your leg and managed to pull it well (by giving you only half of the translation)! so one point or GURKHA SALAAM to your grandfather.
the other half translates as 'can remember nothing, you from somewhere, me from another place, we met in dehradun' -get the meaning sir!
Good day,
Tulsi
