I have heard that Canterbury Christ Church University in Canterbury and perhaps Greenwich university too consider Gurkha children as Home students irrespective of the three year qualifying residency period. I believe in Wales, any university will accept Gurkha children as home students.

Good luck!

Hi there!

I may be a little help to you but I am going to share with you what information I have. If you want to study in london, Middlesex University are charging the home student fee by giving a Gurkha Bursary Scheme. I donot know of other universities as such. However, the Cardiff and Winchester Universities also have similar provisions but with the condition of a 5 year stay in Uk. Greenwich Universities are giving £1000 discount for Gurkha children. Apart from this, you can give your own best by writing an application to your chosen university asking to consider you for being a child of a Gurkha.

My reply might have been late for you to get enrolled this year. But I assume, some universities mentioned above are doing the Clearings (you get the chance to get admitted if they have a place for your course). Hope this helped!

All the Best!

Namaste Sushila

I hope you have now been offered a place at university.  If not please let us know and then we can try and get some answers.

My daughter attended Christchurch University College at Canterbury and it was a great start to her life.

Best wishes

I am sure by now you have found the university of your choice but if you have not yet had luck perhaps it is worth checking with Middlesex University, University of Wales Institute Cardiff and any other former "poly" who cannot generally fill their seats and would love to take students at a reduced fee up to home student rate or slightly higher.
