Petition for pension equality for all Gurkhas.
I should be very grateful if people could sign the petition below and pass on the link to all their families, friends, relatives and colleagues. I did ask the Gurkhas.com Admin to publish it when it was created, sadly I cannot see it anywhere. However, if they can, it would be very useful to post the link in the main 'Home' page, where it should be readily accessible to all instantly!
As can be seen, I created this petition in June 2009 and the signatures so far is abysmal - just 363. I am hoping that this time it will get more traffice and therefore more signatures before the end date of 05 June 2010. Please remember to pass on the link to all you know. Thank you all.

Re: Petition for pension equality for all Gurkhas.
Adarniya dai,
With due respect, we would humbly request you to view the following: http://gurkhas.com/ShowArticle.aspx?ID=696 . This proves that without fear or prejudice, we have honored all gurkhas and community related news articles that reach us by giving them ample coverage at all times.
Nevertheless, we do understand your frustration that the Gurkha community could do more to demonstrate unity and support for the petition for pension parity as this is for the 'greater good of the community'. Thus, as per your suggestion, we will be bringing the petition article back to the forefront AS OF TODAY.
Wishing you a very happy Dashain and Tihar,
Gurkhas.com team.

Dear bhai Santosh,
Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for posting my thoughts without first checkiing the my old online petition was actually published as you kindly pointed out. I was not aware of this as I am not a regular visitor to the Gurkhas.com site. May I suggest that you consider introducing options to the site and forums where members could click for e-mail notifications for new posts? Many other forums and websites have these facilities.
Secondly, may I ask that you remove the old link and replace it with this one: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Pension4Gurkhas/
because the old is now dead due to lack of support and the new one was created at the 10 Downing Street Government's official website. This petition will be read and acted upon by the Prime Minister of the day when it expires in June 2010, we will therefore need to be very proactive and get thousands of signatures for the petition to be effective.
I felt very sad to read the comments of ran bahadur gurung, which sounded extremely shallow and selfish. I did not create the petition for my personal benefit, I created it so that the very people he mentions may benefit from it. I shall feel richly rewarded if the petition is successful and the Gurkha bhupus can get a fair and just pension.
It is also not about the benefit of coming to settle in the UK, our veterans would be able to live comfortably in Nepal, India and wherever they have settled. I would rather be in Darjeeling if I had the choice than stay in this country which has gradually become like hell. I am sadly stuck here because of my children who were born here, I do not want to punish them by going back as it is not their fault that they were born to me in the UK!
My message to ranbahadur gurung and others like him is not to think in such a narrow minded and selfish manner, but as a Gurkhali, do you best to help and support because who knows what tomorrow holds?
Wish all a prosperous Tihar and God bless all.
Jai Gurkha.

Re: Petition for pension equality for all Gurkhas.
Dear bhai Santosh,
Thank you for updating the link. However, it is still showing the old dead petition, perhaps because the link is missing a / at the end like the one below:
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Pension4Gurkhas/
the / after Gurkhas seems to be vital to take people to my current petition, I would appreciate it if you could add the / after Gurkhas. I know that with the above link, people will need to copy and paste it into their address bar to navigate to the petition, but it will take them to to correct one.

Dear bhai Santosh,
Bhailai thulo, thulo dhanyabaad chha hai. I am reqally very grateful to you and the Gurkhas.com Team for helping to bring this petition to a wider audience, we must do our best to help our old veterans and make this Government realise that we Gurkhas are not going to go away quietly until they recognise our loyal contribution to Crown and country and agree to give all Gurkhas a just and fair pension regardless of when they retired.
I must say that I am really saddened to read some very unwanted negative comments from Ranbahadur Gurung, I would therefore ask him and others like him not to make such comments any further because I know that our British supporters also visit this website and they may get the wrong idea.
With my ashirbaad to you.
Dai Swaroop.

Re: Petition for pension equality for all Gurkhas.
It is now 8 months since I created this petition and it has about 4 months before it expires, sadly in 8 months there has only been a measly 445 signatures. I cannot understand why our people cannot help such causes to help themselves when I have done the hard work of creating the petition, herein lies the answer to why the Gurkhas are kept underfoot by the MOD and the UK Government , it is such a shame! I am, for once, totally lost for words!!

Namaste Swaroop
I have just been to the website to sign the petition but was unable to do so as there is a notice saying:
'The new administration is currently assessing how best to proceed with the e-petitions service. We will update users as soon as practicable.'
There are currently 591 signatures and i will continue to monitor the website.
Best wishes
Nigel

Re: Petition for pension equality for all Gurkhas.
I checked the website myself. Mr Nigel is right, you cant really sign the petition due to the administrative reason, I guess. There are only 2 more days and 591 signatures so far. I wish this was brought out to all the Nepalese attention during the many gathering/happening in and around UK where you could just collect signatures, take your laptop and get it done. I know its easier to say, but not everybody has access to computer and internet and quite frankly are knowledgeable in how to get around the www. Can you please check what is going on MR Chamling, I will check back again. Thank you for your hard work.
