Gurkha history and potential meeting with my father

Hi, my father served as a gunner in the British Army in the Cameron Highlands during the 1950 skirmish.

We are visiting the Cameron Highlands in Jan 2010 and I wondered if there were commemorations in place anywhere to recognise this effort ?

Also, I wondered if there were any Gurkha's local in / around the Camerons who would consider meeting with my father, while he is there, as a surprise, so as to create a photo opportunity and increase his enjoyment of the visit.

Help and comments, much appreciated.

Re: Gurkha history and potential meeting with my father

Dear Sir,

To get more information about where Gurkha squadrons can be found, please visit Brigade of Gurkhas website via MOD : http://www.army.mod.uk/gurkhas/units.aspx

If your dear father cannot meet Gurkhas at the Cameron, Highlands do by all means get in touch with BGWS at Farnborough Hampshire where ex-Gurkha soldiers have a dedicated organisation with constant flow of veterans on most days. Hopefully he will be able to meet a few when he can go there.

Our best wishes to your father!
