Namaste
I am trying to trace any members of the Queen’s Gurkha Signals (QGS) who were serving in Belize in 1980.
My name is Nigel Cory (at the time a Captain in the Royal Signals), and I was seconded for 7 months as a Watchkeeper in Force Headquarters at Airport Camp. Apart from working with the QGS chaps who manned the Radio Room, I was often invited to join in parties at 633 Signal Troop where Gurkha curry was often on the menu (and very nice too)!
I will never forget the warmth and courtesy that the QGS gentlemen always showed me. I particularly remember Sergeant (other names unknown) Pun who impressed me greatly with the story about how he hiked so far to the selection and was then turned down because he was too young. Not to be put off, he repeated the hike the next year and passed selection.
I would love to hear from any of these great people whether they remember me or not.
My email address is disaster@globalnet.co.uk and my telephone numbers are:
0044 (0)1476 575529 and 0041 (0)7970 016567
My very best wishes to all the Gurkha community both in the UK and Nepal
Nigel
